Full PureKana Review

PureKana was founded in 2017 by CEO Cody Alt and Co-Founder Jeff Yauk in Scottsdale Arizona, but in 2019 HeavenlyRx Ltd bought a majority shareholding in the company.

Since their establishment, PureKana has grown into one of the biggest CBD companies with offices in the USA and the UK, and have become a household name in the US.

They spend a lot of money on maintaining best practices, equipment and self-regulating to guarantee a safe and pure product. Its biggest demographic is with young active users.

Organic Farming

PureKana’s offices are based in Scottsdale Arizona but their farms are situated in Kentucky. This is because the soil in Kentucky is supposed to have the best composition and minerals for growing hemp. It also has the best climate for producing some of the best hemp in the world.

PureKanna claims that its hemp is organically grown with no pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides and solvents. However, this claim is hard to prove because they don’t have a USDA Certificate and they are not GMP Certified.

Extraction & Potency

PureKana uses a CO2 extraction method which is a solvent and chemical-free way of extracting CBD oil. One of the main advantages of using this method of extraction is that the CO2 will naturally evaporate to leave a clean untainted product.

As a company, they are always trying to improve this method and have spent a lot of money to improve its effectiveness. Unlike most companies, they use cold-pressed seeds which doesn’t change the properties of the hemp and produces a cleaner, healthier, purer product.

PureKana has a broad range of products available in different strengths and levels of potency, including isolates, broad-spectrum and full-spectrum oils.

A full-spectrum oil is one that includes all of the natural compounds of the hemp plant, including 0.03% of THC which is the psychoactive compound of the plant, but at this level it is ineffective.

A broad-spectrum oil has all of the natural compounds of the plant but has had the psychoactive THC removed. Lastly, are the isolates, which is the purest form of CBD and has no other compound in it, except MCT which is fractionated coconut oil.

The MCT is an important ingredient because it helps the human body absorb the CBD, without the MCT our bodies would only absorb about 10% of it compared to 90% plus with it. They also sell three different strengths of CBD in their products, 7.5mg, 15mg and 25mg per millilitre of oil.

PureKana’s products have a reputation for being a beginners level product because they are a lot less potent than many of their competitors, especially if they are regular users.

Independent Lab Testing

Third-party testing in this industry is important because, without any form of FDA recognition or regulation the industry needs to have transparency in order to gain trust in their products, therefore, as with most of the big companies, PureKana provides third-party testing by a recognized independent laboratory. Initially PureKana used ProVerde Laboratories but they recently changed to a smaller lesser-known company called Ace Analytics.

There has been some controversy over their testing in the past because they didn’t include tests for pesticides, chemicals and harmful bacteria such as e-coli and they don’t provide tests for every batch produced.

Another problem is that all of the tests that I could find on their website, as of April 2020, were dated 28 January 2020, or earlier. PureKana should make a greater effort to keep the test results on their site up to date.

Online Store

For a company as big as PureKana, some of their customers appear to be having problems with their website. There have been complaints about lack of security and orders not going through. Several comments by people state that they tried ordering several times but their cards wouldn’t get processed. There were also several complaints of charges being made multiple times for the same order then not being refunded in a timely manner.

The site itself is ok but it could do with more background information on the company, the director and where their hemp is farmed etc. I also tried to find information on their shipping terms but I couldn’t find anything.

Customer Service, Shipping & Guarantee

Many users have commented favourably on the friendliness of PureKana’s customer service staff and their knowledge of the product, but there are also many complaints, the biggest complaints by far were those about the aftercare service or lack of.

Many users have complained that when they have received faulty goods, or wished to return them, that it has been difficult to not only get a reply to their telephone calls or emails but to get any follow ups on any agreed action.

This was one of the most worrying aspects of the company that I came across while researching this review as it shows a neglect and disregard of their customers.

PureKana has a 30-day money back guarantee on their products, however, the customer is responsible for ensuring the safe return of the product at their own expense. Realistically, this means if your purchase was less than $30 it’s probably not worth the hassle, as the cost of return is probably as much as the cost of your order.

PureKanna ships to all the federal states in the US except for Idaho, Wyoming and South Dakota.

Pricing & Discounts

PureKana’s pricing is about average and gives reasonable value for money except for their weaker 7.5mg per millilitre products which work out costing more than most at a per-milligram price point.

$54 (Mint, Vanilla, 7mg/ml)
$55 (Natural, 7mg/ml)
$139 (25mg/ml)
$95 (15mg/ml)

The only discount PureKana offers is a 25% discount off all their products for people in the military or VAs. To apply for this you need to go to PureKana’s website and provide proof of your service.

PureKana CBD Gummies Review

PureKana’s gummies are one of the leading edibles on the market, combining a delicious taste with natural flavours and the natural benefits of CBD.

Each gummy contains 25mg of cannabidiol extract making them as effective as they taste. Each bottle contains 20 gummies, giving you a total of 500mg of CBD goodness.

The gummies are made from a pure CBD isolate with no additives and only natural flavouring. Also, as an isolate, all the psychoactive THC has been removed just leaving the pure CBD extract. These gummies are also vegan and gluten-free.

These are a great way to consume your CBD discreetly and take your regular dose of CBD. They will help relieve stress, anxiety and insomnia. The CBD will take about an hour before you feel the full benefits as it’s absorbed through your digestive system rather than directly into your bloodstream sublingually, and will last for about 6 hours depending on your metabolism.

PureKana CBD Capsules Review

The PureKana capsules are an excellent way to take your daily dose of CBD. The CBD comes from non-GMO, vegan and gluten-free plants with no artificial chemicals or pesticides.

Each bottle contains 30 capsules with 25mg of CBD per capsule giving you a total of 750mg. These capsules contain hemp oil instead of the usual fractionated coconut oil MCT to promote its absorption into the body. These work great for anxiety, stress and insomnia.

CBD capsules have become very popular with users because they are extremely easy to carry, they are easy and discreet to consume and they have a precise dose.

However, they have a couple of disadvantages. The biggest of these is that because they are digested through the stomach rather than directly into the bloodstream via oral consumption. Another disadvantage is that they are made from a soft gel which melts in the heat so they are not suitable for hot climates.

PureKana CBD Dog Treats Review

Dogs, along with most vertebrate animals, share the same endocannabinoid system as humans meaning that they can digest CBD and benefit from it in the same way as humans.

However, dogs can only take a fraction of the dosage that humans can so don’t give them the same capsules or oil as you take.

There are two strengths of the dog treats, available in three flavours. The dog treats for larger dogs, over 40lb, contain 2.5mg of CBD per treat with 20 treats per bag. The treats for smaller dogs only contain 1mg of CBD per treat and there are 25 per bag.

Dogs, like humans, suffer from anxiety, stress and fear, so the CBD in these treats can help them in the same way they can you.

Many dogs are easily stressed and get anxious with loud noises, long car trips and separation from their owners, among other things, and these will help to calm them. They will also promote your dog’s wellbeing in many ways. The CBD will help promote healthy skin, relieve arthritic pains, aching joints and some digestive problems.

On a more important note, when buying CBD dog treats it’s important to only buy from reputable companies because many do not use the advertised dose of CBD in their dog treats, in fact, many don’t have any in them at all!

It is best, therefore, to buy from a company that uses third-party lab tests that are readily available for you to check. It’s also important to check that the lab providing the tests is trustworthy because often they are not truly independent.

PureKana CBD Oil Review

This is PureKana’s flagship product and is available in 30ml or 60ml bottles. The 30ml bottles come in either 300mg, 600mg and 1000mg strengths and natural, mint or vanilla flavours. The larger 60ml bottles come in either 2500mg or 5000mg strengths but only as natural CBD oil.

All of their oils are only available as full-spectrum CBD, which means it has a trace amount of THC (0.02%) and also it has an earthy, hempy taste to it. The only added ingredient in these is the fractionated coconut oil (MCT) to help the body digest the CBD.

The tinctures are consumed sublingually by putting the dose under your tongue for 60-90 seconds. These tinctures are very good at relieving extreme stress and anxiety, particularly the stronger doses. They are also good for combating headaches and nausea.

Again the majority of comments online seem to be positive except for some of the weaker CBD products. This can sometimes be due to a person’s metabolism and how well their body absorbs the CBD.

Conclusion: Is PureKana Legit?

Overall PureKana is a very professional company with an excellent reputation and great products. In the three years since they were established, they have become a powerhouse in the CBD industry and one of its biggest players.

Their products are highly recommended on review sites and featured in the top 5 of CBD companies on many, with a score of 4.5/5 on TrustPilot.

There seem to be two major issues however, that threaten to ruin their reputation. The first of these is their shipping. There are numerous complaints on several different websites that their shipping was extremely slow and that orders arrived damaged, or didn’t arrive at all.

To compound this problem, customer service did a very poor job of dealing with the complaints with very little or poor communication or even no communication at all.

Also there were many complaints that even when the goods were returned (at the customer’s expense) refunds weren’t given. Another common complaint was loose caps on the products, causing them to leak and a loss of oil and poorly packaged items. These complaints and the lack of good customer service could very quickly sully a company’s reputation and cause mistrust among customers and eventually a loss of business.

As already stated, PureKana has a range of excellent products that have great benefits and work extremely well for the vast majority of its users. I would normally not hesitate in recommending them but due to their poor customer service and shipping which is reflected in their 4.5 out of 5 score on TrustPilot there is certainly room for improvement. I would instead recommend to purchase their products using their store locator to find a brick and mortar shop to buy in person.
